Back to School is Just Around the Corner
Neil is Feeling the Pressure
Lots of you have been asking for the fall
schedule of classes. Well, Neil has promised
me that it will be available this weekend. So
if you see him make sure you ask - "Is it ready
yet?".
We've got some great classes coming up, and we'll
send you another email as soon as the classes are
online at woolandcompany.com.
Geneva Fine Arts Fair
This
weekend sees the Annual Geneva Fine Arts Fair
and as you are all artists in your own right, you
can come in and get 20% Off almost everything
in the store to celebrate the artist in you. We are
also offering two opportunities to learn a new skill
of Recycling Knitting & Needle Felting at 2pm
on Saturday or Sunday. You can make a luxurious
felted flower to accessorize anything you own, just
$6. Make sure you come and see the wonderful booths
that line Third Street and enjoy the beauty of a
summer day in Downtown Geneva.
Don't forget we will have open knitting on Friday at
7pm and on Sunday at 3:30pm.
February Sweater
The
February Sweaters are progressing well - we
have about 30 different people knitting them with
all kinds of different yarns.
Most of us have at some point done plenty of
frogging so don’t be bashful about your progress,
come and show us how it is going. Our Friday
night knit group is open to everyone, but this week
I would love every February Sweater Knitter to come
and knit with us, show us how your sweater is going
and let us take some pix.

New and Restock Yarns
New this week, lots of Plymouth Encore
for all the Ma’s, Grans and aunties who want to make
throws for college kids …
come
while the selection is good. More Bryspuns,
those things seem to be flying out of here at the
moment. Gorgeous new yarns from
Artyarns and perhaps the prettiest kit I
have seen in ages, for a
lovely crochet shawl/scarf. It is soo divine
and the colors are amazing, lots of little Granny-ish-square-rounds
in one long piece – simply a work of art. The
Cascade Fairy just arrived and delivered lots
and lots of bags so we now are pretty well stocked
with colors again including the colors of our local
high schools.
New Books
A
wonderful new book for those of you like me who love
to make almost useless but lovely things.
Knitted Bears by Claire Garland ... our
friend Pam came in with a bear she was making from
this book and it was soo delightful, lots of pretty
buttons and Angora and Ribbon. How can you resist?
It is a great way to make the most of all those bits
and bobs you have left at the end of your projects
and don’t know what to do with. It's also a lovely
gift for a newborn, or any friend who could use an
extra special hug.
Each bear is created with a wonderful range of
soft yarns in gorgeous colors and every single bear
includes patterns for their own wardrobe and
accessories. There are eight in all and the
straightforward nature of the patterns combined with
inspiration allow readers to create characters that
are all their own.
Another
good new book is
I Can’t Believe I’m Lace Knitting, which has
some great advice for those of you starting out on
your lace trip, as well as some really pretty
designs to get you going. Lace knitting can be done
with any weight of yarn and any size of needles.
Learn about yarns, charts, tools, stitches and
helpful hints. Come in and look at the book and get
inspired.
